1955 – Establishment of the Cape Verde Air Club
1955 – First flight between Praia/Sal/São Vicente/Praia, with the twin-engine “De Havilland Rapid Dragon”
1956 – Arrival of the first “Dove”, a 9-seat twin engine
1958 - 02 "Grumman Widgeons" are purchase to complete de fleet
1958 – On December 27, 1958, Cape Verde Air Club gives place to the Cape Verde Air Transportation Company ( TACV)
1959 – Air traffic reaches 460 passengers carried in one year
1962 – Air traffic increases to 2.261 passengers
1964 – All islands with the exception of Brava and Santo Antão are served with air connections
1968 – 03 “Doves” ensure air connections between the islands
1973 – 02 “Hawker Siddleys” aircrafts, HS-748, and 03 “Islanders” replace the Doves
1978 – Beginning of regional flights to Dakar, Senegal
1980 – 02 “Twin-Otters” aircrafts are purchased to replace the “Islanders”
1985 – International flights begin. TACV open its Sal-Lisbon-Sal flight connection
1987 - The transatlantic Sal-Boston-Sal flight begins.
1988 – Opening of the Sal-Amsterdam-Sal and Sal-Paris-Sal connections
1990 – 02 Casa-212 aircrafts and 01 Embraer 120 become part of the national fleet
1994 – 03 ATR 42 - 300 aircrafts are purchased in Toulouse, France
1996 – TACV purchase its first Boeing 757 - 200, directly from the Boeing factory, in Seattle, considered the pride of Cape Verde Airlines"
1999 – Beginning of the Sal/Las Palmas/Madrid/Sal connections
2001 – Beginning of flights linking Fortaleza (Brazil) and Cape Verde
2002 – A Boeing 737-300 is purchased to reinforce the company’s service capacity
2002 – Beginning of regular flights between Sal, Dakar, Abidjan, Freetown and Guinea-Conakry
2004 – A second Boeing 757 - 200ER is purchased
2005 – Issue of the ETOPS Certificate, considered one the major achievements in the national air carrier’s almost half century of existence
2005 – Beginning of flight linking the USA and Cape Verde, using its own aircraft and crew
2006 – Beginning of flights linking Fortaleza and Cape Verde, using its own aircraft and crew
2006 – Beginning of the Airline’s privatization process under the guidance of Sterling Merchant Finance, Ltd.
